I'm Ana Ot
CHILDREN'S BOOK AUTHOR
I love writing heartfelt children’s books that celebrate love, joy, heritage, and all the special moments in between.
My debut picture book, The Heart Never Forgets, tells the story of a young girl who finds a way to honor her grandfather during a vibrant West African masquerade festival. At its heart, the book is about how grief doesn’t erase love, it deepens memory.
I’ve lived on three continents and traveled to nearly thirty countries, and each place has shaped my perspective and storytelling. My stories are inspired by both my roots and my journeys, weaving together universal emotions that speak to readers everywhere. I especially enjoy writing books that help children see themselves, and discover others.
When I’m not writing, I’m dreaming up new ideas, wandering through bookshops, antique shops, or places filled with pretty things. I’m also passionate about community: I serve on a fundraising committee for children’s books, where I recently led a grant initiative to support independent bookstores.
Through my books and projects, I hope to keep reminding us all of one simple truth: the heart never forgets.
